Lazy Monday

Today is another hot and sticky lazy day. I have been doing some gaming (Skyrim) and reading two great books: Arena, which is a fiction book about virtual gaming tournaments. The main character finds it hard separating reality from virtual, and it is a really great read from a debut author named Holly Jennings. I would highly recommend it especially if you are a gamer.

I am also reading Brad Meltzer’s book called the House Of Secrets. If you like Meltzer’s tv shows called Decoded and Lost History, you will love this book. It’s full of secrets and intrigue. It deals with an ex con, her dad, a famous tv person like Meltzer he went to go see, and now the ex con and her dad are dead. The ex con was found with a copy of Benedict Arnold’s bible in his chest, and the mystery is afoot when his daughter and son try to figure out this mystery. A must read.

All Lives Matter

There are many movements going on lately. They single themselves out when all lives matter. When are we as a nation going to treat everybody as human beings, and love one another, and treat everyone like they want to be treated. If we started doing this, the whole world would be a better place to live in. Who wouldn’t want that? There are enough haters out there. It is not hard to be nice and treat everyone well. Sure, there are people out there that no one gets along with, but love them anyway. I am not a pacifist. I just believe we should love God and our fellow man. This is a commandment in the bible, by the way. The reason it is not hard to love one another is because we might not be able to do it in our strength, but we can do everything in his strength, who lives within us. Love you guys, and make this world a better place.

Delilah: A Good Book By Angela Hunt

Angela Hunt is a great writer of fiction. I loved this retelling of Samson and Delilah. It pretty much follows the biblical account in the bible. I loved the way she weaved the story together through the eyes of both Samson and Delilah. It is a sad story of love never found and love lost, with the rebellion of Samson over his being a Nazarene, and against his family and his God during his rebellion. But Samson shows his redemption in coming back to his God when he tore the Philistine building down. Samson will always be remembered as a great judge of Israel and of Yahweh.
I really enjoyed this book, and I recommend it to fans of Christian Fiction, and especially to fans of Angela Hunt.

Memorial Day

In biblical times, the nation of Israel would memorialize important events. They would get big rocks and stack them up, and when their children saw it, they were told the story of what it memorialized. They would pass it down to the next generation and the ones after that. Today is Memorial Day, when we remember our veterans of war and the ones who didn’t make it back home. I want to thank these men and women for their great sacrifice for our country.  Let’s not remember that it is a day off to have fun and cook out, but remember what it is supposed to be remembered for. Thank you vets.

Don’t Know What To Say

This blogging isn’t as easy as I thought. It is hard to come up with something everyday. One thing I am looking forward to in the up-coming months is coaching Upward soccer. I don’t claim to know about soccer other than the basics, but I enjoy teaching it to them. Some of the kids are so sweet and funny as they are learning and it’s not about winning. Although everyone wants to. I also love the tremendous support from the parents as well. I like to coach basketball as well, although I didn’t last year because of lack of transportation.
Sometimes I want to give up blogging since there are so few viewers, but i also like putting my voice out there as well. Wish I had more participation when i ask for suggestions or answers to a question. I am not sure whether I will continue or not. We will see, especially depending on any responses I get from this post. You may see me, you may not. It all depends on you, the public.

Just Rambling

Today will just be random ramblings. In the world of sports, Nyquist, the favorite to win the Preakness, lost for the first time today. The Kentucky Derby winner finished third behind Exaggerator and Cherry Wine. Even though it was a rainy sloppy track, Nyquist jumped out to a too fast pace and was gassed at the end. Tonight, we have the All Star race from Charlotte in NASCAR racing.

I didn’t get any responses to yesterdays post on what you like to read and what authors and books are your favorite. I thought that would be interesting to find out. I am still looking for a hobby as well. Any suggestions? And no, we are not just talking about getting off the couch, J. Any suggestions on how to get more readers on this blog or something I could do to spruce it up, or maybe want different topics? Any suggestions would help. Other than that, whats the point if nobody reads it?

Tonight is the night before Sunday. I teach Sunday school, and it is my turn to teach tomorrow. I am going to teach the beautiful story of Ruth. I love this story it also tells about our kinsman redeemer Jesus Christ in the story, through Boaz. Anybody like religious topics, by the way? Let me know. See ya till tomorrow, knuckleheads.

Read, Read, Read

The old fart has a lot of time to read. I have always enjoyed being curled up with a good book. It refreshes and invigorates your brain. I love to read christian fiction, fantasy, mystery and suspense, and sometimes if it’s good, I like to read a good historical fiction book. I also love biblical fiction. My main thrust here is getting you to read. There is nothing better than being transported to different lands and people. It’s like you’re on a journey with them. So go to your local library. Or if you have a kindle, read a book. I love to read and then review books on amazon.com . Authors will send you a book for free if you  read it and review it, plus you get to know authors that way as well.
I review for many authors. If any authors read this and want a book review, send it to me and I will review and get the word out for you. Anyway, like I was saying, I mainly want to get my readers to read more often. I love it.  That’s why this old fart is still sharp keeping my brain from rotting. So go read. Tell me what kind of books you like to read.
What’s your favorite book of all time? Waiting for your response.

The old farts not dead

Sorry about missing yesterday, but it was a busy day. I went to the eye doctor today and got a good report. So the old fart’s not dead! He is still alive and kicking. I’m still looking for suggestions on how to get off my merry go round. Help me out, guys. You ever get to the point where when you get old and have stuff wrong with you that you never feel good?

Well let’s see what kind of amusing story I can come up with today. So gather ’round, cause the old fart’s getting ready to tell a story. One time, I was in a footrace, and I’m in the lead.  I look back to see if anyone is close. I turn back around and I do a 360 flip in mid air, and land flat on my back wondering ‘what just happened?!’. I was bleeding with split lips, and I look up to see a clothesline. Dork! Well, that’s all till tomorrow, knuckle heads.

Life on this merry go round

Have you ever felt like you’re on a merry go round?  Wake up, eat, have a quiet time, then read, then eat again, then read, then eat again, then read, then sleep? Sometimes I add some gaming. Then do it all over again in a never ending cycle of same old same old. I am retired and in bad health. I would like to start a hobby or just something to get me off this go round, but I find myself saying ‘I would like to do this or that’ and never do. I would like to start a hobby, and I would like to write a book or at least see if I could. Any body else like this? I am open for suggestions, because this old go round is getting old. I hope to start blogging every day.

Let me tell ya a funny story. Me and my boys were at a local ballgame, and the mascot Hoot the Owl started making a noise while me and my boys were in deep conversation. One of my sons turned around, and Hoot and my boy’s face were eye to eye through the fence, and it scared him half to death! You had to  have been there. It was hilarious! Well, i’m waiting for your suggestions on how to get off this merry go round. It will be so cool to hear from you.

Backfired Prank

On one side of my family are a long line of pranksters. One time, they pulled one and I was the recipient (although it was not intended to catch me, it did). We went to Galax, Virginia where they lived for an aunt’s funeral. I went to the viewing with my mom and step dad, who were the intended subjects of the prank. When we came back, I was with my uncle and cousins. When we got home, I walked in the door to find someone sleeping on the couch who wasn’t supposed to be there. I started to back out the door, scared to death, only to hear the sound of laughter. What had happened was, my uncle put a mannequin head with a wig on it inside a sleeping bag to scare other people, but it got me instead! Then the rest of the night, we sat up listening to old pranks my family had done. So don’t be surprised if you get pranked…it might be me! Bwwaaahaaa!
